About Jay Singer

The author has been an avid traveler from an early age and this has taken him around the world to over a hundred countries. His enjoyment of travel adventure is supplemented by his endless curiosity and interest about the places he visits. That includes the study of corruption that affects so much of what is happening in the world including in his own profession of psychiatry. His interest in photography provides the many photos in this book.

He finds nothing more exciting than seeing psychology, sociology, and anthropology in action, corruption included. He is fascinated by what the law reveals about the human psyche embedded in society. It fits right in with his medical career in psychiatry and 20 years of disability evaluations that involved having to distinguish truth from simulation and deceit. It frequently included doctors and various ancillary personnel who, looking for revenue, were promoting unwarranted disability instead of rehabilitation and improved function for their patients. His travels to dozens of countries also help him see things from a bigger orbit which he continues to enjoy. He is thrilled by that new field in anthropology – the anthropology of corruption  – especially from a comparative global perspective that shows ways we’re all really more alike than different.
